Media Prima Digital and Kitamen collaborate to champion eSports in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 30th October 2018 – In conjunction of Level Up 2018, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Rafiq Razali, CEO of Media Prima Digital and Hazman Hassan, CEO of Kitamen to embark on a partnership between these two companies in championing the esports scene in Malaysia. This collaboration is in line with both parties’ mission to build a stronger presence in our gaming and eSports industry. With YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Minister of Youth & Sports, and Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, CEO, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as witnesses, the partnership will see MPD and Kitamen joining hands to boost the esports industry from multiple fronts.

Media Prima Digital & Kitamen will be working together to educate, cultivate and provide exposure of this multi-billion industry to the public and at the same time support our government’s gaming and eSports initiative. With this symbiotic relationship, they’d be able to reduce cost and improve efficiency for upcoming projects and events in 2019.

Echoing Rafiq’s sentiments, Hazman Hassan, the CEO of Kitamen also shared that mutually beneficial partnerships like this is one that Kitamen constantly seeks out to nurture. “The esports ecosystem in Malaysia is about to experience an exponential growth with solid interests from all levels of society, including the grassroots gaming community, corporate organisations, the government and the public. This MoU will set a new precedence that esports is definitely here to stay, by having the interest of one of the giant media companies in Malaysia. Through this MOU, Media Prima Digital will provide its wide access of platforms that include Digital, TV, Print & Radio to be used to promote all gaming initiative as well as broadcasting expertise in relations to proper live streaming services. This MOU also allows Kitamen to fully utilize Media Prima’s in-house asset and tap into large scale on-ground events such as Karnival Jom Heboh and future IPT tournaments. Combining Kitamen’s gaming inventories and expertise in organizing esports events, both of these organizations will fully utiilize their internal talents as well in executing future projects.

Media Prima Digital and Kitamen has previously embarked on a few successful collaborations in organizing various eSports events nationwide including the award winning, Gegaria Fest and ASIA Comic Con.
